In July 2007 I received my Y-DNA results (shown below) from Family Tree DNA from the swabs
taken inside my mouth. I entered these results into a Surname Project
looking for other people that have similar Y-DNA. The surnames included are:
Raehse, Rass, Reece, Rees, Reese,
Rehse, Reis, Reise, Reiss, Reisz, Res, Rese, Ress, Rhees, Ries, Riess, Van Rees--lots of ways to spell Reese!

Not too long after I joined the Surname Project my cousin, Steven A Reese,
also had his Y-DNA tested and joined the same Surname Project. The project then told us that we were probably related, but
we differed on three markers.

We then got in touch and used our paper and computer records to contruct our genealogical
relationship.

According to Family Tree DNA, Clark Jay
and Steven Anson Reese share a common ancestor within the last 4 generations at
12.26% or the last 6 generations at 39.97%!!!
A more detailed discussion of what this means is coming.
